Show Description

We live forever on the edge of the void. In a liminal moment filled with uncertainty, waiting to shift, change and evolve beneath our feet, to irreconcilably change our lives forever. Precipice interrogates the impermanence of time, our physical and psychological responses to trauma, whispered words that alter our destinies and the need for trust, surrender and love to overcome our fear of the unknown.

Meredith Kitchen and Zebastian Hunter developed the choreographic staging through structured improvisation and devising exercises using acrobatic disciplines, physical movement vocabulary and dramaturgically inspired content conceived through discussions with acclaimed Writer Stephen Sewell.

The world of Precipice is fragile and unstable. The structural foundations of society that seem so consistent can evaporate in an instant.  Circus allows to leap into the fray of a chaotic world, to defy danger in an effort to celebrate life. Through the metaphors created by climbing, falling, throwing and tumbling we ask the audience to take our hands and peer over the edge into that void, to stand and bravely face the precipice we confront in these tumultuous times.
